Long coveted as a trememdous game fish, the Atlantic Tarpon is found in-shore along the coasts of North and South America as well as Western Africa.

While the average is 40 to 50 lbs., the Florida record for a Tarpon is 243 lbs.

Maturing slowly at 7 to 13 years of age the Tarpon can breathe air at the surface. The female can lay as many as 12 million eggs which will tolerate a wide range of ocean salinity, making it a very durable fish.

The Tarpon is a powerful swimmer, feeding mainly on other fish and large crustaceans.
